Michael Münkwitz – trumpetmaker / master of craftsman for brass instruments

 

1973 – 1979   Apprenticeship and master craftsman as a brass instrument maker with Friedbert Syhre, brass instrument maker in Leipzig

1979 – present   My own workshop for brass instruments in Rostock

1990 – 2006   “Musik-Münkwitz”, extension of activities including concert events, music management and music supplies store

1990   Organization and management of the 1st Festival for Old Music in the GDR in Rostock, including concerts, an exhibition, courses, and an international symposium

1990 – present   Regular work stays as an instrument maker in Tanzania (East Africa)

1996 – 2012   Establishment of a series of events “The Special Concert” with renowned artist from Germany and abroad. (Ludwig Güttler, Rolf Hoppe, German Brass, Duo Labeque, Gewandhausorchester, Thomanerchor, Kreuzchor, Akademie für Alte Musik, Lauten Compagney etc.) Among others the annual Classical Music Open Air in castle park of Prebberede with fireworks for about 4.000 people.

 

1996 – present   Course facilitator of annual workshops in baroque trumpet making in Germany, United Kingdom, Finland, Austria, Netherlands, USA together with Dr. Robert Barclay (Canada) and Prof. Rick Seraphinoff (USA)

2004 – present   Regular participation in musical instrument exhibitions and master classes in Germany and abroad (Japan, USA, China, Europe).

2006 – present   Work on the project “Birckholtz-Trumpet” Documentation and exact replica of the instrument, annual concerts in Belitz (GER), as well as the production of a CD, publications, lectures, and presentations.
